【摘要】:Thispractice,orPracticeD3550withthinwallshoe,isusedwhenitisnecessarytoobtainarelativelyintactspecimensuitableforlaboratorytestsofengineeringpropertiesorotherteststhatmightbeinfluencedbysoildisturbance.Note28212;Thequalityoftheresultproducedbythisstandardisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingit,andthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivesampling.Usersofthispractice.arecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotinitselfassurereliableresults.Reliableresultsdependonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.1.1Thispracticecoversaprocedureforusingathin-walledmetaltubetorecoverrelativelyintactsoilsamplessuitableforlaboratorytestsofengineeringproperties,suchasstrength,compressibility,permeability,anddensity.Thin-walledtubesusedinpiston,plug,orrotary-typesamplersshouldcomplywithSection6.3ofthispracticewhichdescribesthethin-walledtubes.Note18212;Thispracticedoesnotapplytolinersusedwithinthesamplers.1.2ThisPracticeislimitedtosoilsthatcanbepenetratedbythethin-walledtube.Thissamplingmethodisnotrecommendedforsamplingsoilscontaininggravelorlargersizesoilparticlescementedorveryhardsoils.Othersoilsamplersmaybeusedforsamplingthesesoiltypes.Suchsamplersincludedrivensplitbarrelsamplersandsoilcoringdevices(D1586,D3550,andD6151).ForinformationonappropriateuseofothersoilsamplersrefertoD6169.1.3Thispracticeisoftenusedinconjunctionwithfluidrotarydrilling(D1452,D5783)orhollow-stemaugers(D6151).Subsurfacegeotechnicalexplorationsshouldbereportedinaccordancewithpractice(D5434).Thispracticediscussessomeaspectsofsamplepreservationafterthesamplingevent.Forinformationonpreservationandtransportationprocessofsoilsamples,consultPracticeD4220.Thispracticedoesnotaddressenvironmentalsampling;consultD6169andD6232forinformationonsamplingforenvironmentalinvestigations.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.4.1ThetubingtolerancespresentedinTable1arefromsourcesavailableinNorthAmerica.Useofmetricequivalentisacceptableaslongasthicknessandproportionsaresimilartothoserequiredinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.6Thispracticeoffersasetofinstructionsforperformingoneormorespecificoperations.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthispracticemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenpr......
